This article provides detailed steps for installing and configuring a portlet development environment using IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer V5 and Portal Toolkit V4.3. You also see how to install an extra WebSphere Portal 4.2.x instance, which lets you have both a portal production environment and development environment on the same machine.

With previous versions of Application Developer and Portal Toolkit,you could not install the WebSphere Portal Test Environment(part of the Portal Toolkit) and WebSphere Portal on the same machine.You had to set up a separate test environment outside of Application Developer,which required extra work.

This article shows you how to install WebSphere Portal Test Environment on top ofthe Application Developer V4 runtime environment. Also, you see to howinstall an extra WebSphere Portal 4.2.x instance, which lets you have both a portal production environment and developmentenvironment on the same machine.
