This article explains horizontal filtering, a method for synchronizing a select subset of rows between the server and the DB2® Everyplace mobile device that can significantly enhance performance.
Introduction
IBM® DB2® Everyplace is a relational database and enterprise synchronization server that enables enterprise applications and enterprise date to be extended to mobile devices, such as personal digital assistants (PDAs) and smart phones.
When designing your usage of the synchronization capabilities of the DB2 Everyplace Enterprise solution, a significant part of that design will be deciding what rows of a table will be synchronized to each mobile device. The intent of this article is to expand the IBM DB2 Everyplace Sync Server Administration Guide manual with additional examples, complex examples, and screen shots of MDAC as the examples are explained.
